day 1-2 of the road trip: Memphis

NOTE: If your viewing this on facebook make sure to go to to view the video if it doesn’t show up because I published it too soon on accident. :(

And…I say february 5th…but I really meant february 10th. :) Ooops.

We arrived in memphis at the fairfield inn around 8pm. I didn’t realize the time change would affect american idol so I missed it. Sad. I very much love the drama and intensity of group day, haha. Having ellen as a judge now is just perfect. We all have a great reason to laugh because ellen is actually funny vs laughing at paula because she is drugged out of her mind so I am really happy about the switch.

Speaking of american idol, I wish I could remember his name, but the guy who is kinda short, with the glasses…he sang his version of that paula song which I also can’t remember the name of, haha. I am pretty certain he will be my favorite of the season, especially once I learn his name. :)

Back to memphis…

We love marriot’s and figured we would try out a fairfield since its like $20 cheaper than a courtyard and it is pretty nice but the beds are not as good and there is no closet mirror which makes curling my hair super difficult. I burned my head twice this morning. I get complimented by strangers all the time when I wear it curly with this really short cut that I have so that convinces me it is worth the effort.

After getting ready we went out and got lunch at Chick Fil-a. That is one thing I love about the south. Chick fil-a is awesome and michigan really needs to get with it and start some up there. Everyone loves chicken! It is a guarenteed money maker!

We then went scouting for our engagement session today in downtown memphis. We found a couple pretty cool spots so I think it will go well. It is NOT warm and sunny here though. :( They say the high today is 40. I don’t know if I believe that or not. The sun isn’t out which could be why it feels so cold.

For this trip we have decided to keep track of our GPS’s emotional issues towards the areas we are in. For example, our hotel is about 9 miles outside of downtown memphis. The closer we get to downtown, the more it freaks out. Recalculating! Lost Satalites! Turn Left! Wait, Turn Right! Oh crap, I mean left! Continue 2 miles, no, Recalculating! So…sorry Memphis but our GPS hates you. :(

We also thought since we will have a GPS update, we would like to name her to give her more of a personality. Any suggestions for a name? It is a she and she has emotional problems and can’t handle stress very well..whats a good name to go with that? haha

The highways around memphis are haunted as well. There is a weird howling sound everytime we drive on them. At first we thought it was someone around us who had their music up really loud but then realized that it was still there once we were not around that car anymore. So….defintly highway ghosts.

Anyways…our engagement session went really well! Craig and Claire were such a hilariously fun couple. I’ll be doing a post of our favorites, but for now I’ll give you a little teaser! This was taken at the peabody hotel in downtown memphis. I nearly fell over when we walked into this room with those awesome curtains.

Tomorrow morning we are headed bright and early to Austin. It is going to be another full day of driving (11 hours!!) but we are really looking forward to texas because it seems to be the only place that is at least kind of warm!
